Alan’s going to sort this mess out – this huge, horrific mess that is his life.
He’s got a plan.
He is going to stop playing the husband, the father, the son and find himself.
He’s going to sort it out once and for all.
Lewis Hetherington’s exciting and raw new play explores the moment when you decide to stop doing what you know, and step out of your comfort zone.
The production will be directed by Timothy Stubbs Hughes, designed by Stephanie Williams, lighting by Katherine Lowry, sound by Millie Cook, and costume by Alessia Alba. The cast includes Francis Adams (Alan) and Katerina Stearman from our production of The Cherry Orchard and they will be joined by Jean Apps (Joyce) and Jane Dodd (Carol).
Lewis Hetherington is a core member to the theatre company Analogue and has co-written Beachy Head (four stars from The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Herald, and The Times) and Mile End (Fringe First Winner 2007 and four stars from The Guardian, The Scotsman, Evening Standard, and Metro), and has adapted several plays which have been performed at the Traverse Theatre with the National Theatre of Scotland.
The production will be directed by Timothy Stubbs Hughes, who recently directed a new translation of The Cherry Orchard at the White Bear Theatre and in 2008/2009, the World Premiere of The Six Wives of Timothy Leary by Philip de Gouveia (five stars in The Mirror, four stars in The Herald, and critically acclaimed in The Independent, The Times and The Stage).

Total Theatre BEACHEY HEAD 4 Stars in Guardian, Daily Telegraph, The Herald, Financial Times “Analogue now must be considered the natural heirs to Suspect Culture and Frantic Assembly.” The Herald
on Timothy Stubbs Hughes THE CHERRY ORCHARD “…the rewards take the form of painstaking, believable characterisation that drives home meaning.” The Stage “…a bold artistic choice, and one that makes for an exciting rendition. It is well worth seeing.” 4 stars – Fringe Review THE SIX WIVES OF TIMOTHY LEARY 5 Stars in The Mirror; 4 Stars in The Independent; Time Out Critics’ Choice (4 Stars) “All in all, it’s an insightful piece of writing, and, in Timothy Hughes’ unfussy production, a gift to the actors, who are all excellent.” Time Out “A word of high praise for the direction too. Presented with Brechtian simplicity, this is no mere monologue of wives 1 through 6, it interweaves past and present expertly giving the whole play a satisfying unity” The Mirror “Spanning four decades, the piece catches the women at revealingly angled moments – the shifting contexts differentiated with crisp clarity in Timothy Hughes' assured, expertly acted production.” The Independent
